An 80 year old radio announcer, Miner Hayward, called me from Winter, Wisconsin, to say he had researched this song and found out that the Ford Motor Company didn't want the composer, Jules Buffano, to release "Thanks for the Buggy Ride," and had a big fight with him over it. So even by 1925 still some resentment, and sensitivity, to the auto.
