Bill tries ZoomCall technology in Russia speech
This week I am doing a speech for a couple hundred people at Moscow State University in Moscow, Russia. It is the first time using ZoomCall technology.
1. They can see me by webcam.
2. They can also see my PowerPoint slides at the same time as they see me.
3. Really cool, I can see them too.
In this test, Dr. Sergey Kibalnikov is shown. If you click on the picture to make it larger, you can see me in the lower right hand corner taking the picture of the screen. On the right hand side of the screen is the PowerPoint slide show that I am controlling. This could change how we do seminars. What do you think?
I've never used ZoomCall but I'm intrigued by the potential of an all in one tool so I don't have to use Google Presentation tied with Skype or use Ustream.tv.
What is interesting though is that I was at a presentation today that ended with a nice discussion with the audience on the future of classrooms and conferences. For many in the audience, we are losing the f2f aspects that make us human.
Even while raising the idea that today's K-12 students blur the lines between vf2f and f2f, there is extreme apprehension. This is a critical concern that educational leaders must address and turn to a goal if schools are going to shift.
I left the audience with the recommendation to pick up Nine Shifts so maybe that is a start :-)
