The room has nothing, and everything
The sleeping rooms are "customized" to your needs.
There's nothing in them. And yet they have everything.
Need an iron? An extra blanket? A tooth brush? More soap? Different soap?
The hotel has them. Just ask.
Room we stayed in was $225 a night, more expensive than the Hilton.
Room prices start at $95 if you want to share a bath down the hall.
Half the patrons were Gen Y, the other half Boomers (parents like us?).
Ace Hotel, Portland, Oregon.
Julie said it was like being in another country, and it was an amazing experience and journey into GenYland. Awesome.
Bill-I've really been enjoying these latest posts.
I stayed at a Sierra Club Lodge this summer which is a hostel. Slept in "cubicles" which is fine because I was there to be out in nature not to spend time in a room. Ate family style, did a chore every day. Had a family room where people could hang out, read, play games, etc.
I loved it. Ate meals with people from around the world, shared bathrooms with all kinds of people (separate women's and men's bathrooms). Great experience, would like to do more of that. Who needs the snobbery of high class hotels?

See post below...did I mention I paid $46 per night and it included all 3 meals?
