The van died last week. We are going to try to get by with only one car. There's no car rental agency in town. No car sharing company. No bus. No shuttle. The taxi cabs won't even take us more than 3 miles. Can we make it with only one car? Help us out with your experience and thoughts!
Hello,
Have you considered doing your short distance errands by bicycle?
Research shows that 40% of all car trips are under 2 miles - what a waste of gasoline!
Riding a bicycle helps alleviate traffic, improves air quality, and provides needed exercise and health benefits.
A study done in Baltimore also shows that removing one car from the household will save between $6,000 and $7,000 in expenses per year - imagine that amount of money staying in your checking account!
Love your book and use it with our clients. Thanks!

@Elliot - I thought the same thing! Get a bike with one of those baskets on the back. I have a car, but it's nine years old. I live in biking distance from the grocery store, my kids school, and most of my friends. I could probably pull this off when the weather is good.
As far as winter, I guess it depends on if you can coordinate your schedule in the family among those who need to get somewhere by car. My family definitely could do it.
Thanks for the idea. Maybe I'll do the same if my Stratus ever dies (which is unlikely, because I don't drive it that much as it is - only 50K miles on it.

and so it came about that in college I was unjustlyaccused of being a politician, because I was privy to thesecret griefs of wild, unknown men. Most of the confidenceswere unsought—frequently I have feigned sleep, preoccupation,or a hostile levity when I realized by some unmistakablesign that an intimate revelation was quivering on the horizon; for the intimate revelations of young men, or at least the terms in which they express them, are usually plagiaristic and marred by obvious suppressions.
