Tea Party Loudest Right Now

Willie came home for Christmas.  New look: a beard.  New info: as always.

He said one of his teachers 8 years ago noted that reactionary forces seem to be the loudest and biggest right before changes happen.  That is almost certainly the case with the Tea Party and others trying to hold back the 21st century. 

   Expect the Tea Party to gain strength, be loud, even reverse a few things.  Then expect them to fade. They will. The 21st century and Knowledge Society moves on, with or without them.   Photo: Our foster son Sammie, left; and Willie with Julie.

I'm glad you're optimistic, but check out the link below (predicting gasoline at $5 per gallon), and then look at the comments that follow. Whew!

Winston Churchill supposedly said you could count on Americans to do the right thing--after they had exhausted the alternatives. The problem with that approach is that you can run out of time before you run out of alternatives.

In related news, there was a big deal made of the actual decline in the automobile population in 2009. However, if you try to search for something like "US auto scrappage rate," the most recent information available is for 2009, the same year mentioned above. You can't find anything, or at least I haven't, that addresses this with a dateline later than last spring, and with numbers no later than last year. Is this data being suppressed?
