Lots of our members have had "up close and personal" encounters with black bears this summer, including Swifts, Hayes, Char Glashagel, and Gayle Strand.
For our association annual meeting, the Ruchs have talked to a number of experts on black bears, and have compiled that information for our program this Saturday. Judy says she will have a hand-out summarizing what they have learned.
Joe Weber reports sighting a big black bear on July 14th, right by Bill and Julie Draves' driveway on Birch Bark Road.
And, John Farwell watched a 300 pound bear, he estimates, walk in front of our house, and right down the path to the lake at 3:00 pm one afternoon this week.
