Hey, just dropping in to say thanks for the excellent info!
I grew up in Florida so I had by no means even seen tire chains until I made the move out to California. Moving within the middle of winter isn't fun, let me tell you. It had by no means even occured to me that I might need tire chains once I got closer to California and needed to cross more than the mountains. As soon as I got closer to CA and started heading up into the mountains, I observed that everybody ahead of me was pulling over. Everybody was out digging in their trunks and getting their tire chains out. I was lucky that there had been guys promoting extra chains on the side from the road otherwise I would have needed to turn around and find some elsewhere.
