Bill and Jeanne Huemann will need their hotel room in Springfield MA for at least one more night, as son John's Winona Warriors won their first Elite Eight game last night, 67-54.
Winona beat #1 ranked and undefeated Grand Valley State. They will be matched up tonight at 7:30 for the Final Four with also-unbeaten Bentley, the team that squeaked from behind to surprise both the Winona team and all the spectators with their win in last year's championship game.
The margin in last night's game was not as comfortable as the 67-54 score may look. In the first half, Winona led 24-11, and ten minutes later, going into the half, Grand Valley State had a 29-24 lead. Obviously, the team doesn't buckle under pressure. We're wishing them the same success in tonight's game!
