I know---it's no one's favorite topic, but accurate and practical bylaws definitely keep our association business-like and organized.
As you're aware, an update of those bylaws, prepared by an ad hoc committee of Jim Stocker, John Farwell, and board member Ann Swift, was unanimously approved at Saturday's annual meeting, and Jim has sent you an electronic copy of the final version. The group expressed thanks to those three committee members for their work.
Most of the changes were procedural, clarifying who may be a member and who is elegible to vote, when the fiscal year begins and ends, and when dues are payable. More than one family member now is allowed serve as a director or officer, if nominated by the nominating committee, which will now be chosen by the Board at large, rather than by the president alone.
Some updates just correct and clarify, to be more consistent with what we are already doing--the job descriptions of officers and duties of the standing social and water quality committees, for example. Dates for spring and fall board meetings are also given parameters: within 60 days following the July annual meeting in the fall, and within 90 days preceeding that July annual meeting in the spring.
