Of course, all romantic eyes are on Great Britain this week, as Prince William and Kate Middleton get married tomorrow in the "wedding of the century."
But, Carlin Lake is a pretty hot spot for romance too---and I'm not talking only about the retired couples who live around the lake! I'm counting the engagements which have taken place on our shore---and even one wedding had Carlin for a beautiful backdrop.
Scott and Michelle Schelp, now proud parents of three little boys, Cohen, Sean, and Asher, were engaged on a beautifully decorated pier one Labor Day weekend.
Kristin Farwell and David Melek, parents of Alex 10 and Josie 8, were paddling around the lake when David "popped the question." Kristin remembers well that it was the Labor Day weekend when Princess Diana was killed.
John Smith and Laura Servaty were engaged last summer, and are busy with wedding preparations for this July 30th.
Ricks and Carol Brewer are delighted with the engagement of their daughter Amy to Jeff Gustafson from Manitowoc. As this happy couple became engaged on the winter Carlin lakeshore, the rest of the family wondered if they were ever going to come indoors to eat dinner---and to warm up. An October 8th wedding is planned.
In another winter engagement, guests of Gayle Strand's became engaged when AJ dropped to one knee to propose to girlfriend Patty Kongslien on Glashagel's deck. Where did this modern couple meet? Through the internet, of course.
And, the official wedding in Carlin history---Amy Smith and Eddie Hightshoe on a beautiful September afternoon in 2009.
Have other family members or guests of yours also become engaged at Carlin? Let me know and I'll add them to this list.
Maybe the new owner at the Carlin Lodge will want to tap into this romance theme. Can you picture a bridal suite with Northwoods decor?
