The Vilas County emergency network called us again last evening, warning us that severe storms were headed toward us. While we ate supper, we watched the radar on Channel 12 as the red blob moved right toward Presque Isle.
Fortunately, the worst of the storm broke up or passed around us. The 10:00 news didn't report any tornadoes locally, but did report that 4" hail had fallen near Winchester. We haven't heard more this morning about possible damage.
It was frightening. After the horrid tornado damage that's occurred in other parts of the country, I find it much easier to pay attention to warnings of bad weather.
With .8" of rain in our rain gauge on Sunday morning, and another .8" this morning, 1.6" of welcome rain fell this weekend. Smokey Bear in Manitowish Waters has been calling fire danger "high," so that designation may change after this weekend.
I also saw the 10:00 weather on channel 12. I heard them say hail and Winchester and they showed 4.25". Never heard any more about it today. Hmmm. But the rain was glorious.
