I know there are "months" for everything. October, for example, observes serious issues like Breast Cancer Awareness Month, National Fire Prevention Month, and National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Less serious issues are also observed: National Pork Month, National Pizza Month, and National Vegetarian Awareness Month. (Maybe now during October, we should all head out for a pork chop or pizza dinner. How difficult is it to find a vegetarian meal in a PI restuarant?)
Anyway, I learned that this month is also "National Reading Group" month. I think that's a great reason to celebrate the good books we Carlin Readers have discussed in the last four years, as well as the fun and society we have enjoyed together.
The National Reading Group Month website lists their book recommendations for 2011, as well as (if you scroll to the bottom of this page) their choices for 2009 and 2010.
And, one of the sites I like for getting ideas for what other reading groups are recommending is the Reading Group Choices website. You too may like clicking in once in awhile to see what they are suggesting.
This summer photo shows our group at our smiley best. Here's to more years of enjoying good books and good friends!
