"Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination,
Calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting---
Over and over, announcing your place in the family of things."
Mary Oliver, "The Wild Geese"
"A merging of location, history, personal legacy of impact on the land, and most important, memory, can be described as having a 'sense of place.' It is a place we identify with our own unique heritage in life, who we are, and even why we are here."
Dale Cox, in "Finding your Place," Lake Tides, Fall/Winter 2012.
We've all had repeated conversations about the good fortune that brought us to Northern Wisconsin and Carlin Lake. A recent article, (in the publication of the Wisconsin Lakes Partnership) quoted above, touched me. It made me conscious again of how important this place and you people are to "who we are and even why we are here."
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
I think you said it well. Our feelings exactly!!! Couldn't wait to get back this weekend.
