We're sharing our sympathy with Gary and Sally on the passing of her dad Bob Maertz on September 29th. The following obituary was published in Sunday's "Milwaukee Journal Sentinel."
Maertz, Robert J. "Bob"
Age 93, of Newburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. Bob was born in Milwaukee, the son of John and Clara (Strande). On January 11, 1944, he married his high school sweetheart Ione Jensch. He served in the Air Force followed by attending Marquette University and graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering. The majority of his life was managing the family business, Maertz's Department Store, on 35th near Villard Ave. Eventually he became a salesman for closed circuit TVs. He is survived by his daughter Sally (Gary) Wise; 10 grandchildren, Andy (Brook) Stowers, Angela (Marti) Stowers-Paez, George (Gretchen) Stowers, Robert (Melissa) Stowers, Meredith (Liam) O'Brien, Melissa Stowers, Tom (Terri) Wise, Ruth (Don) Williams, Kate (Jeff) Brady, Dan Wise; 18 great-grandchildren, Samantha Stowers, Pilar Stowers-Paez, Will and Vera Stowers, Loren, Liam, and Henry Stowers, Nuala O' Brien, Logan, Tristan and Brody Stowers, Olivia, Rylie and Kasey Wise, Melanie and Alyce Williams, James and Ben Brady. Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ione and his daughter Susan Stowers. Following his wish, his body was donated to the Medical College of Wisconsin. Services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, Nov. 13, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Newburg, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Greater Yellowstone Coalition, American Heart Association or Fetch Wisconsin Rescue. A special thank you to the nurses, aides and staff of Samaritan Health Center and Horizon Hospice. The love and care they gave him was outstanding. Words cannot express my appreciation.
Gary and Sally have given lots of loving care to her dad over the years. We wish the whole family the best as they remember their dad, grand-dad, and great-grand-dad.
