As we get closer to Thanksgiving, our warm November has kept the lake ice-free. Here's one big benefit of that open water: Danny reports that this morning, he watched five otters swimming across the lake. They were heading from McCalls over toward Bernie Klotz's point. That would have been very fun to watch!
And, on this opening weekend of rifle season, Danny says they had three bucks feeding at their backyard buffet yesterday, along with their usual ten or so does and fawns.
I do wish "Happy Hunting" to all hunters who will be heading out, but also hope these three local bucks may find a safe place to hide out for the next ten days.
We have snow cover on the ground this morning, following some funny squalls yesterday, and I understand that some snow is favorable for deer hunters. But we are predicted to miss the big storm that many of you down south will be getting this evening. Snow or no, the temps finally make it feel like winter here.
