If you are here at the lake, this is not news to you---that we received about 6 additional inches of snow on Monday. Added to the snows from Thanksgiving week, we probably have 25 inches or so on the ground.
Channel 12's weather map, shared by Bob Rider, also measures that we are in the 25" range. And, they compare that last year at this time, snow cover was about 3 inches.
And, at 8:30 this morning, our thermometer still reads about 15 degrees below zero. It's definitely "White Christmas" weather this year, as this snow seems to be here to stay.
Local conversations we hear are about this early, heavy snow, before lakes became fully frozen. Outdoors-folks are warned to be cautious about stepping out on lakes that look deceptively iced-over.
It's a cookie-baking day, I think. (Predictions are for 3-5" of new snow for tomorrow too!)
