Loons are back; hummingbirds are back; and today's thermometer reads almost 80 degrees. New neighbors Mark and Jan Hastreiter were even out on this calm morning enjoying an early-season kayak paddle.
And, some piers are already in, including Riders and Trapinos. You maybe can see others from your viewpoint on the lake. You will have received the email from Rich Janusz saying that the pier at the Carlin boat landing will soon be ready for your boating season to start. Thanks for organizing that speedy installation, Rich!
Thanks to John Martin at his property on Carlin Point. He anticipated a concern: possible invasives brought by those who install piers, bringing their boat here directly from other lakes. And, even better, John solved that concern, and has worked with the installers to have them wash their boat on his property before putting it into Carlin Lake. Thank you for this effort to protect the lake, John.
In related weather news, you probably were aware of the power outages here, from 2 pm yesterday to noon today, caused by huge winds all day yesterday. We understand firefighters battled many grass fires in our area, due to dry conditions. Some needed rain is predicted for this week, so will keep fingers crossed.
