Bob and Judy Ruch forwarded the following excellent news regarding internet capacity in our area.
Yesterday's newspaper included a little more information, that the grant means the town will have to bear only 17% of the cost, or approximately $1.2. The project is expected to get started in early 2023, with a completion date of late 2024.
PI was one of the successful recipients of a PSC internet grant award. This means fiber cable to everyone’s home in PI with the exception of islands, which are in limbo. The promised standard speed is 200Mbps, for an additional monthly fee you can receive up to 1 Gig (1000Mbps). The work will be done by Charter/Spectrum probably by the end of 2024.
If you know Nick Williams, Paul Specht or Dave Bogan, please express your thanks for the all the time they have spent to reach this successful result.
And, one more thing this week: you should have received in your mail a blue and yellow flyer from the Last Wilderness Alliance. The group explains their mission, and give information about the issues of ATV/UTV use and about boats that throw hazardous wakes.
Both of these issues have proponents on all sides, but this flyer may help answer some of your questions.
